AHAHEIM, Calif., June 19, 2007 – LG Electronics is showcasing its complete line of digital signage solutions, LCD and plasma televisions and monitors, including a new touch-screen digital signage system, this week at InfoComm 2007 (Booth #2309). As dynamic digital signage continues to grow – 40 percent annually toward one million installed displays by 2009 – LG Electronics provides technology integrators with one of the industry’s most comprehensive selections of flat-panel display solutions.
As the demand for innovative, yet simple digital signage solutions increases among corporations and small businesses, LG’s latest lineup of commercial products provides technology integrators access to some of the most advanced and flexible solutions in the market today.
“A business owner’s ability to reach customers in a unique and engaging format is becoming more difficult with traditional media,” said Ron Snaidauf, vice president, Commercial Products, LG Electronics USA, Inc. “As digital signage increasingly becomes a viable option, LG is in a unique position to service, support and make technological refinements in response to business owners’ needs.”
Comprehensive Digital Signage Solutions
Addressing the industry trend focused on creating a home-like experience for consumers, LG’s Restaurant and Bar vignette at InfoComm 2007 will highlight the first-ever plasma HDTV (model 42PX8DC) with integrated MPEG-4 technology that decodes the MPEG-4 transmission sent by satellite content providers of high-definition programming. The technology provides compatibility with the more than 150 national high-definition (HD) channels and 1,500 local broadcast HD and digital channels scheduled to launch on DIRECTV®.
Offering technology integrators a way to minimize space requirements and maximize emphasis on content, the MPEG-4 technology is integrated into the set and does not require an external box to decode the MPEG-4 information—eliminating the need for add-on set top boxes and hookup cables.
42" Plasma Integrated HDTV Display – 42PX8DC
In addition to seamless integration, the 42-inch 42PX8DC incorporates a stylish two-tone frame finish, and features Clear FilterPRO ™ with eXtreme Contour Compensation (XCC) to limit screen reflection in brightly lit rooms, eliminate haze and reduce double imaging, perfect for various restaurant and bar applications.
This unit includes LG’s built-in HDTV pay-per-view encryption enabled by the Pro:Idiom™ digital rights management system, a robust, highly secure technology platform that helps to assure rapid, broad deployment of HDTV and other high-value digital content. LG flat screens also incorporate the company’s proprietary XD Engine® technology, taking low-resolution analog signals to near high-definition levels, improving brightness, contrast, and detail and enhancing color as well as reducing signal noise.
Also at InfoComm 2007, LG is highlighting the LC5DC series of flat-panel HDTV LCDs. The 42-, 37- and 32-inch units (models 42LC5DC, 37LC5DC, and 32LC5DC, respectively) also incorporate the MPEG-4 technology. These units come equipped with integrated speakers at the bottom of the screen and a detachable stand for wall mounting options. The LC5DC units provide customers with a superior viewing angle at 178 degrees with Super IPS. For monitoring two contents at once, Picture-in-Picture is available when an additional tuner source is connected.
Other digital signage solutions include the 32-inch LCD HDTV (M3201C), which features Super IPS technology and can be used for a 4 x 4 video wall application.
The new LC7DC series’ 26- and 32-inch sizes feature “Public Display Settings,” LG’s exclusive, convenient new commercial set-up system. This new feature allows custom installers to clone settings and easily apply them across multiple units. With nine easy-to-use control settings – public display mode, start channel, minimum, maximum and start volume control, power and key management, factory reset, and aspect ratio – these LCDs are ideal for public installations. Showing its versatility, this series also features LG SimpLink™ technology, which allows for easy compatibility with other LG products and offers SRS TruSurround XT™ and 1366 x 768 resolution.
LG’s new touch-screen flat-panel HD LCD monitors offer another dynamic opportunity for public interactivity, enabling even more access to consumers. These large-screen HD LCD monitors, with the integrated touch-screen, feature surface acoustic wave technology. From finding your way around a campus to learning about players at a sporting event, consumers are experiencing the benefits of touch-screen digital signage.
Large Venues, Simple Content Delivery Solutions
From retail stores to casinos to airports, LG’s new Internet Protocol (IP) Solution technology enables video content delivery to multiple locations with centralized video content and display control capability. Turnkey for system integrators, this is a diverse and innovative option for businesses to reach customers. LG’s new M4210C-BA LCD Monitor utilizes the IP Solution and is capable of portrait (vertical) or landscape (horizontal) orientation, further addressing the digital signage industry’s need for maximizing space and customizing its digital signage network. This screen also has a new narrow bezel of 29 mm which enhances the use of a 4 x 4 video wall application.
As stadium capacities increase with some reaching more than 100,000 seats, the need for digital signage solutions that encourage interactivity, highlight a team’s statistics and describe a venue’s capabilities grow. LG’s new touch-screen flat-panel HD LCD monitors offer another dynamic opportunity to enhance the fan and corporate client’s experience.
For large-screen applications such as cinema lobbies and mall kiosks, LG’s new PC5DC (50- and 42-inches) plasma display series features the new “Public Display Settings,” as in the LC7DC LCD series mentioned above. With control panel lock, the TV image will not be disturbed in a public setting.
Featuring its range of display sizes, LG will also highlight its 60-inch Plasma HDTV Monitor (MU-60PZ95V), which provides a variety of “image-sticking prevention” features. The unit utilizes LG’s proprietary XD Engine® technology and has multiple inputs and portrait capability providing the opportunity for businesses to deliver digital signage content.
