Building on its debut electronic 'box' product, the Phono Box, Pro-Ject Audio Systems has announced a new line (continuing the box theme) comprising stereo and mono amplifier versions of the Box Amp; a matching preamplifier, the Pre Box, and the Phono Box II USB, which will allow the digital recording of analogue vinyl discs.
The Box products aim to provide audiophile sound quality with ultra straightforward design, making them no fuss, small footprint and affordable audiophile products. Manufacturing costs are apparently focused on internal circuitry rather than external aesthetics.
Interestingly, Pro-Ject Audio's efforts to keep things simple have resulted in a selection of very svelte and minimalist products that positively shout quality. Stick them in the cupboard if you must, but in our opinion they're nothing to hide.
