Not all AV kit has to be ultra high-end and ultra expensive to get our attention – there’s a lot to be said for the budget end of the market in terms of versatility and accessibility. And there are few budget manufacturers bigger or better than Alba.
Case in point is the Trapezium Design Micro System – a simple CD player with analogue radio, alarm clock and line-in for an MP3 player. Nothing too fancy; just straightforward functionality in a decidedly retro looking but utterly inoffensive chassis that costs a trifling £30.
Wall or shelf mountable, it’s never going to tickle the tweeters of your Cambridge Audios or Denons in terms of build quality and isn’t likely to trouble Bowers and Wilkins with its sonics, but by the beard of Zeus, it’s only £30. Did we mention that already?
