Sharp’s latest T Series LCDs will be the first screens on the market to feature THX certification, which means they ensure the best match of brightness and contrast for a home cinema level of video production.
The Aquos T Series includes two large screen HDTVs in 65in and 52in models. Despite the THX certification, the contrast (2500:1) and brightness (350cd/m2) ratings are actually lower than the current R Series, although Sharp explains that these panels have been exclusively designed for use in the darkest home theatres.
The supporting specification includes a Full HD 1080p ASV panel with 120Hz technology. And connectivity includes three HDMI inputs, two FireWire ports and an Ethernet connection.
Both models will debut in Japan in September but with prices of $12,000 for the LV-65TH1 and $6,873 for the LV-52TH1 they don’t come cheap.
