One of the most highly regarded studio monitors of the ‘80s was the Acoustic Energy AE1, considered up there with the best from Harbeth, ATC, and Tannoy. Acoustic Energy is now back with a new reference studio monitor, called the AE22. The AE22 is available in both passive and active versions, the latter featuring an internal 200 watt amplifier, adjustable high, mid, and low frequency controls, and balanced and unbalanced inputs. Both models are built around a new 7.9” (20cm) alloy bass driver and 1” (25mm) ring-radiator tweeter with neodymium magnet contained in a sealed cabinet.
