Swedish cable guru SUPRA has launched a new HDMI cable that’s been certified by a Silicon Image HDMI testing facility so that it’s guaranteed to work with 1080p and the new HDMI v1.3a specification.
Despite being relatively inexpensive (prices start at £50 for a metre with each extra metre only costing an extra £7.50), the HF100 seems very well specified. It’s made using:
* 4 screened twisted pairs of OFC solid core conductors (with a PE foam insulation layer) to improve the High Frequency response for wide-bandwidth and efficient signal transfer.
* Digital pairs that are impedance stable over the entire frequency range up to 600MHz that are twisted with different pitch in order to minimize crosstalk
* a 100% shielded HDMI V1.3a connector using 0.8 micron gold-plated contacts
* a stabilisation flange and strain relief to handle the heavy cable
* Ultra-wide bandwidth design to 600MHz, beyond the HDMI 1.3 spec of 340MHz
* Low internal cross-interference
* High-level screening against external interference
* Heat and age resistant outer insulation.
