Boston Acoustics has announced that it will be bringing its stylish new DAB/FM alarm to the UK from March onwards. The Solo XT boasts twin DAB and FM functions supporting Band III and L-Band.
Although we’ve not been able to test one yet, Boston claims that the tuner provides good reception even with very low signals.
A 3.5mm input is incorporated into the front panel for iPod/MP3 player playback, and there’s also a headphone jack on the rear of the unit. The performance of the Solo XT’s internal speaker is enhanced via Boston Acoustic’s proprietary BassTrac variable bass boost technology.
Boston claims its circuit design eliminates distortion while enhancing low frequencies, even at low volumes.
Solo XT: three-in-one
The Solo XT is very much a design-led product and this is reflected in its level of customisation. In total there are eight colours of speaker grill to choose from: Glacier, Rosebud, Onyx, Pearl Gray, Caramel, Chocolate, Silver and Chilli Pepper. There are also two choices of cabinet colour: Midnight Black and Mist Cream White. The rotating control panel means the unit can be used either vertically or horizontally.
Besides its radio and MP3 playback functions, the Solo XT also functions as an alarm clock, with a large touch-sensitive ‘snooze’ grill plus soft blue backlighting to help wake tired eyes.
The Boston Acoustics Solo XT DAB radio is expected to be available to UK customers from March, priced £150.
