If you own a Toshiba rear-projection TV, it's now a family heirloom—or a candidate for the junkyard. The company has stopped making RPTVs and will concentrate exclusively on sexy flat LCDs.
The announcement came at a June 29 press event in New York. Toshiba introduced its largest LCD TV yet, the 57-inch 57LX177, along with new 52-, 47-, and 46-inch models. Filling out the line are existing 42-, 37-, 32-, and 26-inch models.
Toshiba also announced lower prices for HD DVD players, effectively establishing May and June promo prices as the new official ones. The HD-A2 now sells for a list price of $299 while the HD-A20 is $399.
