iRiver‘s Spinn media player — first seen at the 2008 CES show in January — has finally received some more detailed release information, according to a UK source. The Spinn features a 3.2-inch AMOLED display with a 480×272 resolution, and plays MPEG-4 or Flash videos. Where the initial version shown at CES included DMB TV functionality for iRiver’s Korean home market, a UK version appears to replace that with DAB digital radio. The device will ship in 4, 8 and 16GB versions, with its content navigated via iRiver’s new SPINN technology, operated using the device’s toggle wheel. Files can be transferred both through USB and a Bluetooth 2.0 connection; an FM tuner and a microphone are present in the device as well, these allowing for local recording. Supported filetypes include MP3, OGG and WMA. There is no word on whether the UK player will come with the originally-promised e-dictionary.
Battery life is rated at 25 hours for audio file playback, five hours for video, and four when the content is streaming through DAB. The Spinn is due for a UK launch this August, with a US launch likely around the same time. No prices have been revealed.
