The nights are drawing in, the days are getting shorter – it must be that time of year… We are of course talking about the What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision Show.
We’ll be letting you in on some Show secrets over the coming weeks, to give you an idea of what we have in store for you. First up it’s ‘Time Machine’ TVs from LG…
No, this isn’t a Doctor Who tie-in, rather the brand new LT75 and PT86 screens from LG, which feature twin digital TV tuners and built-in hard disk drives for pausing, recording and rewinding live TV, all from one unit.
The three LCDs in the LT75 range – 32, 37 and 42in – and two PT86 plasmas – 42 and 50in – are the very first TVs to be awarded Freeview Playback certification. This new standard ensures users can use a number of new features.
‘Series link’ allows viewers to programme the digital tuner to record every episode of a series, so you’ll never miss an episode of Heroes again. ‘Split recording’ meanwhile ensures two-part programmes such as films shown either side of the news are recorded in full.
Finally, ‘alternate instance recording’ will mean your clever tuner will know when a programme is being repeated should the original showing clash with a previously set recording.
All of the TVs come with a 160GB hard disk, meaning there’s plenty of room to play around with all of the above features. The only question remains, will you ever find time to watch all these TV programmes?
Your chance to get hands-on with all the screens comes at the What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision Show, Novotel London-Hammersmith. The Show runs from Friday 2nd November to Sunday 4th November, and you can book tickets online here, or call 0870 040 0383.
Remember there’s a discount on tickets if you book in advance, and don’t forget your ticket gives you access to Stuff magazine’s Stuff Live! show, too!
