Here’s a roundup video reviews and previews of kit at CES 2008.
Samsung’s 3D-ready Plasma television
It’s not CES without someone looking like an idiot in gaming glasses or riding horse simulators. This year, Susi tested out the first 3D-ready plasma television from Samsung. It looks a bit odd without the glasses on, but she assures us it looks great when you’re gaming. Take a look for yourself…

The cheapest high def camcorder on sale? Mustek’s DVS20HD. Also a sneak peek of Mutek’s Blu-ray player
Want a high def camcorder but don’t want to pay loads of money for it? Well Mustek may have just heard your prayers. It is launching the DVS20, a high def flash memory based camcorder which goes out in the US for $200. This means we’ll probably see it for a few quid more than £100.
As you can see from the vid it looks pretty decent too. It shoots in 1080, can capture five mega pixel stills and comes with 46MB of internal memory which you can of course supplement with SD cards.
Also on the vid there’s a sneak preview of Mustek’s first Blu-ray player, which is a version two model which means you can stream live stuff fro the web through it. It is due out in a couple of months.

Alienware debuts curvy 2880×900 gaming monitor
Cor! Check this curvaceous gaming monitor out. It’s 2880×900 resolution, the equivalent of two WXGA+ monitors stuck side by side. It’s due on sale in the second half of this year from Alienware, which has been working with tech firm Ostendo Technologies to create it.
They claim it offers a much better response time and wider field of view than other gaming monitors, with the curvature giving you peripheral vision to give you an edge in first-person shooters. They were demonstrating it running Crysis at tonight’s Digital Experience event.
Will many games work on it? Alienware say they will, since game developers are getting used to gamers demanding this sort of resolution by having two separate monitors. No price has been set yet, but rest assured, it’ll probably be super expensive. But worth it. Oh, the pixellation in the video above is YouTube compression, not the monitor itself.

Toshiba’s response to Warner’s Blu-ray allegiance, and what it means for the future of HD
In light of the recent announcement that Warner Bros are backing Blu-ray in the high definition format war (and the subsequent cancellation of the HD DVD press conference) it’s no surprise the press packed into the Toshiba press conference this morning to hear what they have to say about the supposed ‘death’ of HD DVD. After a quick intro from Toshiba CEO Akio Ozaka, who stressed he was "suprised by Warner Bros’ announcement", the ‘lucky’ person who had to face the crowds and defend the format was Jodi Sally, VP of marketing for the Digital A/V department. We got it all on video for you…
