Microsoft has confirmed that its three new second-generation Zune portable media players will be released on 13 November in the US, following a shipping date leak by Amazon.
The Redmond-based company confirmed to news source Gizmodo that Amazon’s pre-order date was indeed correct. Sales pages for the Zune 4GB, 8GB and 80GB on Amazon each now feature the same shipping date, with the various different-capacity players priced at $149 (£75/€95), $199 (£100/€120) and $249 (£125/€145) respectively.
Each model looks slightly different – for example, the touch-sensitive navigation button is square-ish on the 4GB and 8GB models, but circular on the 80GB model. However, the 80GB hard-drive model has a 3.2in glass-fronted display, while the 8GB and 4GB Flash models have 1.8in glass screens.
Microsoft still won’t confirm if or when the three new players will be launched in Europe.
